CLEANING YOUR HIACE DOOR SWITCHES
Occasionally, you might find yourself dealing with malfunctioning or non-responsive door light switches. Luckily, there are several approaches to address this issue. While one option involves outright replacing the switches, we prefer exploring cost-effective solutions first. This alternative method involves dismantling the existing switches, cleaning them thoroughly, and then reinstalling them. Contrary to what you might think, this process is relatively straightforward and shouldn't take more than thirty minutes. Below, we outline the steps involved in this DIY fix. Step 1:
Lift up the button of the rubber cover and remove the switch by removing the 10mm bolt.
Step 2:
Using a sharp razor, cut the three plastic tabs that hold the switch together.
Step 3:
The plunger with contacts and spring will be revealed.
Step 4:
Clean the contacts with a clean pencil eraser. You can also use an electronics cleaner available at any parts store.
Step 5:
The inside of the switch housing has a contact that needs to be cleaned as well.
Step 6:
Once clean, reassemble the switch, adding small dabs of super glue or RTV to hold it together. *Make sure the metal plate is in the correct orientation.
Step 7:
Reinstall the rubber cover.
Step 8:
Reinstall on van.
